Alfred Leslie Privett was born in 1909 in Compton Abdale, Gloucestershire,(Northleach Q3-1909 6A:376), son of Alfred and Louise PRIVETT (née WREN).

1911 census...Aged 1 he was at Notgrove, Bourton on the Water, Gloucestershire with his father Alfred PRIVETT [32] cowman born Hawling, Glos.; his mother Louisa [36] born Kilkenny ,Glos.; brother Ellis Stanley [2] born Hasleton, Glos.; uncle Sidney PRIVETT [17] born Hawling, Glos.

He married May Blanche POOLEY [30-5-1907], in Manchester S in 1932, later of Rusholme, Manchester.

In 1939 May PRIVETT was living at 1 Farmyard Cottages, Church Lane, Barton Mills with her daughter Phyllis M PRIVETT (POOLEY) [19-12-1926]. Servicemen were not included on the 1939 register.


It seems that F/Sgt Privett was with 351 Maintenance Unit at Hussein Dey, Algeria. The circumstances of his accident are not currently known.
